Hello, if you are interested in penturning, then you've come to the right place. I have been doing woodworking as a hobby for the last couple years and created this site to help spread some information and joy to others who might enjoy it too.
If you are experienced and already do a lot of penturning then this site may not be of much help to you. Instead I will focus on helping the beginning woodworkers who may be considering making their first pens. Before you go out and buy any materials, then you can get as much information as you want for free here. Have fun reading, and when the time comes, happy turning!

Once you start and continue penturning, you will find that there is a lot of information and you can constantly find new techniques, materials, etc. I will not distract you with numerous details at the moment and will only help you get started in this hobby. Some of the topics I will briefly explain are:
To begin with, I will share some of the reasons why you may like making pens. Compared to many woodworking hobbies, it is quite easy. Beginners can usually make a nice looking pen on their first try (but will obviously progress as they go along). It is also relatively fast. If you have all the materials ready, you can make a professional looking pen in less than half an hour. It is also relatively cheap compared to other hobbies. Although it does cost money to get started (buying lathes, tools, etc.), it is pretty cheap once you have been doing this. Beginner pen kits can be bought for less than $5 and pen blanks can be bought for even cheaper. Penturning is fun and they make great gifts for family and friends.
